Family Assets

One of your most important assets is your family. The store of knowledge, traditions and stories that you can hand down to the next generation are the kinds of assets that can be lost if they are not preserved.

I have the book that my father wrote after he retired, called "Tall Corn", that leaves everyone who comes after with a written account of his life; the struggles and the accomplishments along with his philosophy of life and an insight into what was important to him. I also have all of his movies and photos that I keep as the family archivist.

If you are not a writer you can accomplish the same thing with a video camera or a tape recorder along with a set of old pictures. If you can record your story you will leave an important asset to your heirs along with something they can treasure for years to come.

One of the things that I do is to take our family photos and transfer them to DVD so that our entire extended family can share in the heritage of each of us. It is a small thing but one that can bring much joy to those who come after. The video below is a small sample of what your finished project can look like.

If you don't have the time or skills to do this on your own, I would be happy to help you put one of these together for your family. Please go here for details:

Whatever you do, take some time to preserve the legacy that is your family assets to give and share with those your love.
