In order to really do a good job with a client I want to know more that just where your money is and what it is doing. Our lives are complicated and the multifaceted aspects of our lives are so intertwined that it would be a disservice to focus on just one area. In order to give the best advice I really need to know how what we do is going to effect the other areas of your life. For instance, how you think about your health and what you do to support it will influence what resources you may need to allocate to that area of your life, now and in the future. Your spiritual practices (like tithing) may need to be incorporated in any planning we do so that you are supporting that aspect of your life in ways that work for you. Getting to Know YOU We don't need to be best friends but I do need to know you on a more intimate level than say, your dentist. I am going to be dealing with the part of your life that is in some way connected to accomplishing every major goal you have. It is important, therefore, that you let me in on who you are, what is important to you and what your hopes, fears and dreams are. This is one reason that I like to meet my clients in their homes. If I can see and feel how you live, I will ask better questions and you will be more comfortable to answer them. Coaching A coach is that special person in your life who holds up a mirror that reflects back the best possible you. My job is to listen for what is wanting to be expressed and to to help you hear it for yourself. Most of us know what we want and we might even have some ideas about how to get it, but mostly it lives for us as a someday, one day kind of phenomenon. For most of us there is some fundamental conversation that stops us from actually having that someday be today. If you are thinking this is just about you and your finances, think again. Mostly what stops us in the area of finances is just a symptom of some conversation that stops us in other areas of life. If you want to move forward and break those old patterns, call me and let's talk about what coaching could do for you. Basic Financial Planning Financial Planning is really a discovery process. There are things you want to accomplish in life (a home, college, retirement, gifting etc.) and there are ways to get that done. For most people having these things happen is a hit or miss process. Some people are very good at planning and reaching goals while others are not. For most of us, having the help of a professional to guide us in this arena frees us up to take care of the other aspects of life that are important to us, like building our businesses and raising our children to be successful adults. The process itself is a discovery process because my job is to ask the right questions so that I get a clear and vivid picture of what you actually want to happen. This means that I must know more about you that just where the money is. I need to know what your values are, what are your principles and ideals and what success would look like for you.
